Imagine Barbie with a Mohawk, awesome boxing gear and a backstory as a world-renowned sporting champion. Sounds great, right? Well just in time for International Women’s Day, the first ever boxer Barbie will be released, modelled on Olympic gold medallist boxing champion Nicola Adams OBE

A new era of Barbie has dawned, and this time she is bold, ambitious and fearless! Thanks to Barbie Shero – a special range devoted to recognising boundary breaking women from around the world – the next generation of girls can populate their dollhouse with legendary female icons. So far Barbie has honoured fourteen remarkable women, such as Ballet dancer Misty Copeland, film director Ava Duvernay, conservationist Irwin Bindi and artist Frida Kahlo. In time for International Women’s day, Olympic gold medallist boxing champion Nicola Adams OBE will be celebrated with a Barbie made to look just like her, kitted out in her ‘lioness’-emblazoned boxing gear and rocking her trademark Mohawk.

In the famous words of Beyoncé – Who runs the world? GIRLS

“I am so excited and honoured to be Barbie’s first ever UK Shero and the first ever boxer Barbie. Having my own Barbie is so amazing and my hope is that everything I do helps more people realise they can do anything they put their mind to. Without my own role models, I wouldn’t be where I am today.” Says Nicola Adams OBE
