Levi’s bring their ‘Buy Better, Recycle More’ campaign to the UK

In March US denim supergiant Levi Strauss will roll out their ‘Buy Better, Recycle More’ initiative to their Europe stores, starting with the UK.  The campaign was first introduced in the US in 2014 and steers customers towards recycling their unwanted clothes and shoes.

The UK discards 350,000 tonnes of clothing each year. Aiming to generate a more sustainable industry, Levi’s forward-thinking initiative helps to cut back on the excess waste sent to landfills.  Customers will be able to take any brand of unwanted clothing and shoes to a specific collection box at a local Levi’s store and in return will receive a voucher that entitles them to a 10% discount on a new Levis purchase.

"We’re thinking about sustainability across all facets of our business and how to shift consumer behavior to make recycling clothing the norm," said Michael Kobori, Vice President of Sustainability at Levi Strauss & Co. "As an industry leader, we consider all phases of our product lifecycle, including stages beyond our direct control like the product’s end point. Collecting used clothing at our stores makes it simple and easy for consumers to do their part and builds upon our commitment to do the right thing for the environment."
