Mad About the Beard

Mad About the Beard

Brock Elbank pays homage to the hirsute with his exhibition

No longer the preserve of flat-white sipping hipsters, the beard has come full circle.
Those with a hairy predilection can hotfoot it to Somerset House to appreciate Brock Elbank’s Project60 exhibition: a series of bearded portraits shot by Mr Elbank himself. Made up of over 80 images - many of which are being displayed for the first time - there are some familiar faces in there, including the actor John Hurt, models Ricki Hall and Billy Huxley and British bearded woman Harnaam Kaur who has been growing her own beard since the age of 16.

Beautiful photography aside, the main purpose of the exhibition is to draw attention to Niggles’ Beard Season - a charity initiative founded by Jimmy Niggles that aims to raise awareness about the dangers of skin cancer.
