Go for the burn with the new Sweaty Betty X Richard Nicoll collection

The fitness craze of the 80s saw sales in sportswear soar. Everyone wanted to be seen to be keeping fit so leggings, lycra and leg warmers became de rigueur daywear. Fast-forward to the present day and while the sweatbands are a distant memory, we’ve continued our love affair with functional fashion.

While many of the cuts, fabrics and finer details that we see on the catwalks today have been translated from sportswear to couture, fashion houses are also cornering the luxury sportswear market itself, a classic example being Stella McCartney’s gold medal-worthy Team GB Olympic outfits. The latest designer to throw his hat into the arena is British designer Richard Nicoll, who has joined forces with luxury brand Sweaty Betty with a ten-piece leisurewear collection.

Each item is faithful to Nicoll’s signature print and colour palette but constructed from durable, high-tech fabric. Standout pieces include an opalescent reflective jacket, sheer panelled body and  crop top/ short coordinates. Not only are they practical, they’re far too stylish to be confined to your gym kit.
