Beautiful portraits of boundary-breaking musicians are to be found at London's Somerset House this summer
R&B, jazz, soul, funk and hip hop are the major pillars of contemporary music – and it’s fair to say that no karaoke night would be complete without them either. The Influence Project, a new exhibition at London’s Somerset House, spotlights the leading black musicians who’ve influenced our ears with their signature sounds. London-based Congolese photographer Alexis Chabala and curator Lorayne Crawford have paid homage to icons such as George Clinton, Candi Staton, Robert Glasper and Sister Sledge as well as newer names Laura Mvula and Anderson Paak.
