Public Enemy reigns supreme
Hypebeasts at the ready! Supreme’s latest drop is an out-of-this-world capsule collab between Japanese streetwear brand UNDERCOVER and rap’s radical forefathers Public Enemy.
Getting your hands on some new Supreme is no small feat. Only a few can stomach the hours needed to cop a fresh release, as demonstrated by oh-so-cool teen skaters who line up outside stores accompanied by their clueless mums, and the savvy resellers who brave the overnight queue with their sleeping bags and flasks in hand. If you’re neither of the above, you might be persuaded to change your ways once you see Supreme’s Spring 2018 collaboration with UNDERCOVER and hip-hop icons Public Enemy. A celebration of the group’s fiercely disruptive album Fear of a Black Planet, a selection of trackpants, hoodies, T-shirts, and a collaborative pair of Dr Martens are emblazoned with the LP’s seminal artwork. It’s been 28 years since the album was released, but this new collection seems particularly timely in the current turbulent social and cultural climate, and will hopefully urge a collective revisiting of Public Enemy’s politically charged messages too.
