London Fashion Week Report: SS17
From classic refinery to laid-back luxe we roundup this season’s must-try hair trends straight from the London catwalk shows
Both Barrus and Mary Katrantzou gave a lesson in how to work with what your mama gave you, presenting loose natural texture at their SS17 shows. Barrus opted for a timeless half-up, half-down ‘do using a generous spritz of label.m Sea Salt Spray to give an effortless rough finish. Mary Katrantzou’s models sported sleek centre partings and soft glossy waves finished with label.m Therapy Rejuvenating Oil Mist to give hair a healthy sheen.
Big, bold and beautiful was the overarching atmosphere at Pam Hogg’s show, a generous helping of label.m Volume Mousse helping to create giant pastel-hued afros - the ideal accompaniment for her theatrical clothing. Elle B Zhou drew influence from her glam gran, where hair was crimped and then brushed out using the label.m Grooming Brush resulting in a fluffy 70s vibe.
Greek mythology provided the inspiration for Ekaterina Kukhareva’s SS17 showcase and hair took on a whimsical mermaid-like feel, with saccharine toned fabric intricately woven into model’s braids. Completing the look was label.m Resurrection Style Dust providing subtle matt texture. Paul Costelloe chose warrier-style braiding with hair pulled into a high ponytail and secured with label.m Hairspray to produce a fierce tribal look.
Models at Merit Award winner Han Wen’s show and EDDA’s presentation looked as though they had been caught in springtime showers. Wispy baby hairs were slicked onto model’s faces at Han Wen’s catwalk show while ends were sprayed with label.m Hold & Gloss Spray for a smooth finish. EDDA’s models had clearly forgotten their umbrellas, label.m Gel helping to produce slick, high-shine effect.
The humble ponytail reigned supreme at SS17, both House of MEA and House of Holland offering two variations. House of MEA chose to present traditional low ponies, slicked back off the face and finished with label.m Shine Spray. House of Holland’s Romany travelers also wore their hair in low ponytails but these were teased into playful plaits and finished with label.m Hairspray to hold in place.
