Christopher Shannon set to introduce diffusion line next season
LCM darling Christopher Shannon is poised to launch a diffusion line named North Quarter. The 50 piece collection will debut at boutique Flannels and is thought to include toned-down, more commercial versions of his infamous embellished sportswear inspired designs. The emphasis will be on tech-led fabrics such as neoprene and bonded cottons, which are durable yet lend a modern feel.
Speaking to ID Magazine, Shannon discussed how the new collection came about.
"Inspired by my catwalk collection, North Quarter takes influences, design markers and key silhouettes from my mainline and repackages them for a detail-obsessed male customer brought up on a diet of premium technical sportswear brands. North Quarter gives me the opportunity to speak directly with the brand led British males who have inspired me creatively since the outset of my career."
Shannon’s move to introduce an alternative line contradicts the recent trend followed by Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren who are closing their diffusion lines in favour of a more streamlined brand approach.
