A new Youtube series explores disney's fashion legacy
Fashion's love affair with nostalgia shows no sign of waning. Now you can revisit your favourite childhood Disney characters with a new YouTube series titled Destination: Disney Style, which aims to explore how Disney's characters and stories are interpreted through fashion.
A host of YouTube influencers including LaurDIY, Jaleesa Moses, Meredith Foster and Lucy and Lydia will host the five-part series showcasing the latest international Disney collaborations, street style and trends from some of the most notable style capitals from across the globe.
Each episode will take place in a different location and focus on how local designers, die-hard fans and savvy stylists incorporate Disney designs into their wardrobes. The first episode, shot in Tokyo, features the Japanese Disney Expo, Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea, and examines how Harajuku Girls devise their own Disney-inspired street style looks.
"From the catwalk in Shanghai to the sidewalk in New York, this new series sees YouTube's biggest fashion stars explore what Disney style means around the globe," said Josh Silverman, EVP Global Licensing at Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. "Fashion and pop culture collide in such creative ways, and it's incredible how fans infuse their favourite Disney characters into daily looks to make a truly personal style statement.”
The series will also take to the streets of New York on August 16 followed by London on August 23 to celebrate the launch of the Disney x Cath Kidston collection. The last episode will air on August 30 and will give viewers an exclusive preview of the upcoming Disney Pixar x Forever 21 collection.
