The Feminist Library fights back with immersive entertainment
This weekend, The Feminist Library will fight an eviction order with an 8-hour immersive experience designed to raise funds for a new HQ. With an archive collection of women’s lib literature mostly dating from the late 60s to the 90s, the Library is also a staunch champion of feminist community projects. Saturday will see artists, musicians and writers come together to perform new and old works in the library itself, alongside choral installations, book signings and dancing. Award winning author Ali Smith will also give a talk about her new book ‘Public Library and Other Stories,’ which is in itself a defence of the importance of libraries.
“The Feminist Library is an invaluable collection, a truly communal and historic source, a hugely important archive – and a living body of work still growing. Mess with it and you mess with everything that matters most, and with one of our history’s richest seams.” Ali Smith
