In celebration of her timeless wardrobe, three exhibitions will take place across her official residences to coincide with her 90th birthday. Entitled Fashioning a Reign, each one will take a closer look at Her Majesty’s life and leadership including ceremonial dresses and accessories dating back to early childhood. Over 150 outfits go on display this week at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh with Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle showcasing selected attire later on in the year.

Expect to see creations by acclaimed designers such as Ian Thomas, Sir Norman Hartnell and Sir Hardy Amies including a delicate lilac silk dress worn at the Royal Lyceum and an ornate gown adorned with beads and sequins that the Queen donned to meet US President Eisenhower.

Fashioning a Reign will run from April 21 2016 to January 8 2017.
