The Perfect Mix
Choose from a programme of apothecary inspired cocktails at Mark’s Bar
Luvvies and cocktail connoisseurs unite this month as celebrated chef and food writer Mark Hix opens his first stand-alone bar at The Old Vic theatre.
Squirrelled away in the Dress Circle and Upper Circle, the bar has a distinct New York vibe with smoky mirrors, ambient lighting and leather Chesterfields while the walls are adorned with design with an illustration courtesy of Chris Martin and wallpaper designed by artist Mat Collishaw.
Mark Hix says:
“I have always been a huge fan of The Old Vic, so when this opportunity arose, I knew it was the perfect location for our first stand-alone Mark’s Bar. I’m looking forward to enjoying a cocktail during the interval and after the shows.’
Ticket holders will be able to pre-order cocktails for the interval from the shortened cocktail menu which includes the classic Hix Fix. Post-performance revellers can sample the eclectic mix of cocktails featuring a range of new curiosities specially created for the venue including Vic’s Punch - a mix of Tangier gin, lemon sherbet, lemon juice, soda and fresh mint.
Sally Greene, Chief Executive of The Old Vic, says:
“Mark’s Bar is going to transform our bars into the coolest theatre cocktail hangout in London. Without a doubt the hippest place to be when the lights are down.”
As the 24-hour weekend tube service approaches, the Waterloo venue will be the ideal place for late-night drinking.
Mark’s Bar opens at The Old Vic Oct 17, 6pm-2am, Thursday-Saturday.
