Wes Anderson adds a touch of magic to Prada’s Milanese eatery
Indie film director Wes Anderson - he of The Royal Tenenbaums/ Grand Budapest Hotel fame - has turned his hand to interior design and the result is a triumph. Bar Luce sits within the recently opened Fondazione Prada art campus in Milan and its pastel Formica tables, Palazzo tiled floor and Life Aquatic-themed pinball machine make for a dreamy combination.
It’s not the first time that the critically acclaimed director has worked with the Italian fashion house, having collaborated together to produce the Prada Candy campaign film starring actress Lea Seydoux. So it’s no surprise that Anderson has been asked to add his other-worldy aesthetic to one of the starring attractions of Prada’s 19,000 square metre art foundation.
“While I do think it would make a pretty good movie set, I think it would be an even better place to write a movie,” Anderson explains on the bar’s website. “I tried to make it a bar I would want to spend my own non-fictional afternoons in.”
