Shoes glorious shoes
Sophia Webster for J.Crew is here. Yipskip!
Young British shoe designer Sophia Webster has teamed up with the US retail giant J.Crew for a covetable capsule collection. And flat shoe wearers should walk away now because this one is a match made in high heel heaven.
Webster earned her stripes (polka dots and hearts) while working for Nicholas Kirkwood and made her London Fashion Week debut for S/S 13. Her skinny stilettos in pop patterns and girly shapes now shod the feet of fashion insiders and celebrities worldwide, J.Crew creative director Jenna Lyons among them. “They’re the magical pieces that finish everything,” gushes Lyons of Webster’s tongue in cheek creations.
The pair share a love of prints, so when J.Crew launched its first London stores late last year, they decided to collaborate. “Jenna and the team selected their favourite looks, then I was let loose with J.Crew’s entire S/S 2014 materials and colour palette,” recalls Webster. “I was like a girl in a sweet shop!”
The kaleidoscopic 13-piece collection ranges from Hawaiian-motif pumps to beaded black booties. Beauties one and all. However reports of dreams coming true when one clicks ones heels together are so far unsubstantiated.
