Jean Paul Gaultier

From Punk to designer perfumes Jean Paul Gaultier has paved the way over the past 40 years and this week the Barbican brings together an exhibition which celebrates his many creations

Imagine Madonna and here’s betting you imagine Blonde Ambition and that conical bra. Bringing to London Madge’s outfit plus many more from the iconic fashion designer, The Barbican centre shows the French costumier’s first exhibition in The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk.

Few designers can claim dressing celebrities in such an iconic way whilst also reviving the punk movement across catwalks around the globe. The one-time pastry chef who himself always dresses in traditional French Breton (natch), says he’s excited to bring this exhibition to London as we brits were some of the first to appreciate his designs way back when. Bonjour we say Jean!

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk is on at the Barbican from 9th April, barbican.org.uk.
